Convention Attendees and Guests of the Westin Harbour Island Hotel to Benefit from Improved Connectivity
Lisle, IL – August 27, 2012 – ExteNet Systems, Inc., leader and innovator in the implementation and operation of distributed networks, today announced the completion of two new outdoor and indoor distributed networks hosting two of the leading US wireless carriers.
ExteNet’s scalable and reliable distributed networks will enable the wireless carriers to offer better connectivity and service to the estimated 35,000 Republican National Convention (RNC) visitors – including delegates, media attendees and others – expected to be in the Tampa, FL area during the August 27-30 convention.
The outdoor distributed antenna system (DAS) network will enable advanced wireless connectivity for Sprint customers throughout the downtown neighborhoods surrounding the Tampa Bay Times Forum, site of the convention.
Sprint Vice President of Network Development and Engineering, Iyad Tarazi, said, “ExteNet provides a technically advanced team that understands the nuances of deploying and operating advanced distributed networks like DAS and Small Cells. Seamless connectivity and a superior mobile experience for our users remains one of our key goals. We are very pleased to be able to extend our services through the ExteNet network in Tampa.”
The indoor DAS network at the Westin Tampa Harbour Island Hotel with AT&T as the first carrier-tenant will offer seamless coverage for more than 350,000 square feet of hotel and convention space, including 299 guest rooms.
“User behavior continues to evolve and wireless networks are witnessing exponential growth in mobile data and video traffic. Operators need to keep pace with the increased need for capacity and coverage, especially with the expected influx of RNC attendees. Our distributed networks installations in Tampa and around the country are designed to scale for mega events and serve the needs of our carrier customers like those at the convention center and the Westin Harbour Island hotel,” stated Ross W. Manire, ExteNet Systems President and CEO. Manire added, “We’re pleased to work with forward-thinking cities like Tampa and premiere properties like the Westin who proactively ensure that connectivity and coverage needs are met.”
Orkun Aydin, General Manager, Westin Tampa Harbour Island said, “The RNC is an important milestone for the upcoming elections. With the multitude of visitors expected, the need to upgrade our wireless service was imperative. We chose to work with ExteNet because of their technical expertise and we are extremely pleased with their highly responsive and knowledgeable team that helped design and develop the communications network for our guests.”
ExteNet Systems builds, designs, manages and operates distributed networks for use by multiple wireless carriers, providing ongoing monitoring and maintenance with a suite of Professional Services offerings including a 24×7 Network Operations Center (NOC).
