Chicago, February 1, 2016 – ExteNet Systems, Inc., the leading independent provider of distributed networks enabling outdoor and indoor wireless connectivity, today announced its renewed agreement with the American Hockey League (AHL) as the official and exclusive arena wireless network infrastructure provider. ExteNet has served as the AHL’s wireless network infrastructure provider since 2013, working with AHL teams and venues to create opportunities for building and operating distributed networks in AHL arenas that enable 3G, 4G LTE and Wi-Fi based wireless services.
ExteNet currently enables advanced mobile connectivity via its distributed networks, each designed to support multiple wireless carriers, at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island (home of the Providence Bruins), Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut (home of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers) and Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa (home of the Iowa Wild).
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with ExteNet. Bringing a world-class in-venue experience for our fans is of utmost importance for us,” said Chris Nikolis, Executive Vice President of Marketing for the AHL. “ExteNet understands the needs of our teams and fans, and works hard to enhance and deliver networks in time for major events, while remaining a key resource for all our wireless communications infrastructure needs.”
“Fans are using more data and video at sporting events than ever before,” said Jon Davis, Vice President of Business Development for ExteNet. “Content sharing at sporting events outpaces network capacity requirements, putting tremendous strain on the network. With ExteNet, AHL arenas are poised to accommodate that wireless data and video demand, delivering the highest-order fan experience. We are excited to continue this partnership with the AHL and help improve wireless broadband connectivity for the teams and fans.”
In November 2015, ExteNet announced the closing of its recapitalization transaction led by Digital Bridge and Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners. The arrangement will help ExteNet accelerate its growth and ensure continued leadership in distributed networks, which are utilized by wireless carriers to provide advanced wireless service for their customers. ExteNet was also one of only 10 companies to win the 2015 Chicago Innovation Awards. ExteNet’s renewed agreement with the AHL is an example of the company’s continued growth and innovation in the wireless infrastructure industry.
