Wireless Technology Company Joins as One of Newest Members of HIMSS
Indoor and Outdoor Network Provider Responds to Demand for Voice, Data and Video Connectivity in Health Care

LISLE, Illinois – April 1, 2009 – ExteNet Systems, Inc. has joined the international membership of the Health Information Management Systems Society and is an exhibitor at the HIMSS09 Annual Conference and Exhibition. The wireless network infrastructure company is committing to a partnership with health care organizations and facilities, with a focus on Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) technology.

“Health care is a natural place for wireless networks utilizing DAS network technology,” says Jon Davis, ExteNet Systems Vice President Business Development, In-Building Solutions. “Hospitals and medical facilities are locations where customer and technology demands for wireless services are driving service providers to come up with innovative and unobtrusive ways to improve their wireless coverage.”

ExteNet Systems has signed contracts with every major wireless carrier in the United States. Its outdoor Distributed Antenna System (DAS) group has 32 operating and under construction networks; the in-building group has 34 networks operating and under construction.

One example of the company’s in-building expertise is the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago – a massive installation that covers millions of square feet and is home of the HIMSS09 Conference. Another example is the installation of a DAS network for a 300-bed, five-building regional hospital, providing wireless coverage across more than 625,000 square feet of public space. The health care installation was completed in fewer than seven days.

The hospital installation by ExteNet Systems maintains the aesthetics of a newly constructed facility while offering excellent wireless coverage for mobile phone users throughout the hospital. Unlike conventional and expensive in-building systems, ExteNet Systems’ network design uses a building’s HVAC ductwork as the waveguide for distributing the radio signals.

The network offers wireless coverage to multiple wireless carriers that support hospital staff, patients and visitors. In addition, the technology is readily scalable for future wireless growth and technologies. After installation, ExteNet Systems provides ongoing network maintenance, operations and upgrading through its state-of-the-art Network Operations Center.

Distributed Antenna System (DAS) networks, Network Operations Center capabilities, Radio Frequency-over-HVAC, battery backup, design and network engineering are some of the strategic and tactical deliverables provided to ExteNet Systems customers.
