Title: Senior RF Performance Engineer, South Region

Position Overview:

The primary area of focus for the Senior RF Performance Engineer will be to concentrate on system performance and optimization of a variety of custom configured outdoor and indoor wireless distribution networks. The position will require frequent travel; however will be primarily assigned to a specified region and/or area. Reports to: Director of Professional Services, South Region

Detailed Responsibilities:

Manages complex projects that may involve multiple Wireless Service Providers, markets and functional teams. Responsible for DAS testing, design validation, system optimization, and related engineering activities. Manages highly complex RF engineering projects and system performance functions for assigned projects, while meeting or exceeding corporate objectives for quality, performance and budget measures. Uses RF propagation tools, test platforms, applied theory, and personal experience in order to assist the Professional Services Director in meeting the numerous objectives associated with a fast pace environment. The Senior RF Performance Engineer also serves as a utility player supporting both technical and non-technical responsibilities.

Essential Duties:

  • Overall systems validation, performance, optimization through customer acceptance
  • Coordinate CW testing prior to design as well as post installation
  • Coordinate and conduct RF coverage testing after installation
  • Link budget review and ability to suggest modifications relative to recognizing performance improvements
  • Participate in outdoor and indoor site surveys to identify RF coverage requirements, equipment location and antenna placement/orientation
  • Conduct site candidate evaluation
  • Verify RF related site engineering drawings
  • Site build verification and acceptance
  • Network performance improvement (KPIs) and optimization tasks
  • Generate project scope of work and engage engineering sub-contractors
  • Review optical and coaxial cable sweep test results after installation
  • Interface Base Station or Bi-Directional Amplifier to various DAS networks such as DeltaNode, TE, Powerwave, and Commscope, Corning and BTI
  • Adjust power levels and commission equipment
  • Conduct system troubleshooting as necessary
  • Prepare system acceptance reports and other relative documentation


This position requires demonstrated and applied experience relative to indoor and outdoor DAS networks, performance & optimization, and/or interference analysis. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Possess a willingness to travel
  • Have excellent English verbal and written communications skills
  • Possess in-depth experience with deploying and optimizing wireless outdoor and indoor DAS networks (passive and active distribution)
  • Understand radio wave propagation theory
  • Understand differentiators between LTE, CDMA, WCDMA, UMTS, GSM, WiFi and other protocols
