Project Manager

Extenet Systems Inc. is a privately-owned company in the wireless telecommunication industry. Extenet designs, builds, owns and operates Wireless Networks (DAS, Small Cell and Wi-Fi) across North America for multiple customers including carriers, i.e.: Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile; properties such as entertainment venues, hospitals, and office buildings; and communities including gated subdivisions, dense cities, and rural areas. ExteNet also owns and operates carrier class 24x7x365 Network Operations Centers, or NOCs. The Global Services function within ExteNet Systems has responsibility to commission, monitor, operate and maintain the distributed networks and network assets in our portfolio to carrier grade network availability, performance and security SLAs.

We are seeking an individual who will report to the Executive Director, Network Operation Center, and operate in a matrix to support key teams across the company. In this role, you’ll provide direction to ExteNet’ s field service contractor partners over a California GO95 project, manage planned maintenance activities and inventory in support of Fiber which connects ExteNet Systems’ Distributed Antenna System (DAS), and Small Cell networks. Your primary office will be in Lisle, IL and you will travel as needed for customer meetings and on‐site program management.

As an integral part of our Network Operations team, the Project Manager is responsible to:

  • Direct and manage field service partners in the activity of GO95 pole inspections and audits, occurring in the state of California.
  • Collect and correlate data on pole inventory and assets, and ensure that this data is stored and maintained.
  • Identify and track project issues as they arise, ensuring that they are directed to the appropriate parties for resolution and resolved expeditiously.
  • Provide regular written and verbal updates on the project status to the management team and across the organization.
  • Manage scope changes throughout the project; ensuring changes are communicated and documented.
  • The ability to generate reports for internal and external consumption to support audit activities.
  • Plan and manage preventative maintenance activities with field service partners.
  • Provide support of wireless networking infrastructure by interfacing directly with customers, customer NOCs, field service partners and OEMs
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external teams.
  • Support the development of standards related to Network Operations processes, tools and best practices.
  • Identify, coordinate and document preventive, proactive and corrective maintenance requirements.
  • Plan, execute and supervise planned network maintenance projects and data collection activities.
  • Perform troubleshooting, technical support and technical problem resolution
  • Perform coordination and hands-on management of outage restoration efforts including the organizing and leading of joint outage conference bridges with customer, vendors and partner teams
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex problems, issues, and solutions to customers, vendors, partners and peers.


  • This position includes frequent direct customer interfacing, communication and coordination.
  • Candidate must be a collaborative team player in our matrix organization, with an open, engaging, inclusive approach to communications and assignments.
  • Demonstrated success in a role within a 24x7x365 operational support center including hands-on approach to managing outages and service restorations is required.
  • Conveying a strong sense of urgency, responsiveness, follow-through and successfully managing outcomes are critical to the success in this role.
  • Work experience in a Network Operations Center, or customer service center is required.
  • PMP certification is a plus, along with prior project management experience.
    • Project or Program Management experience with both indoor and outdoor distributed antenna systems and/or experience working for a carrier is highly desirable
    • A working knowledge of PMBOK® best practices, with experience applying those practices in an operational environment
    • Effective communications skills with an ability to interact both formally and informally with multiple, distinct audiences, including internal teams, customers, and contractors
    • Proficiency in MS Office Tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio), with specific emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint and Project; GIS experience a plus
