Connecting Dunkin Donuts Center With Distributed Networks

Located in downtown Providence, R.I. and opened in 1972 as the Providence Civic Center, the recently Dunkin' Donuts Center is a multipurpose sports arena that is home to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League, as well as the Providence College Friars basketball team of the Big East conference. With more than 960,000 square feet of space, the venue hosts numerous basketball games, ice hockey matches, concerts and other events throughout the year.

To this end, ExteNet designed and built a hybrid Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and Wi-Fi network to bring enhanced mobile and wireless connectivity to the fans and visitors at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. It also integrated a third party wireless app to enable the online ordering of concessions at the venue.

“We could not be more excited to bring this level of wireless networking sophistication to our fans and visitors,” stated the General Manager, Dunkin’ Donut Center. “We look forward to furthering our relationship with ExteNet and for them to deliver the end goal of multiple wireless service providers enabling broadband mobile connectivity at our prime venue with the sole purpose of improving in-venue fan experiences,”

"ExteNet Systems has significantly enhanced the fan experience via their advanced wireless networks at many prominent facilities, "said American Hockey League executive Chris Nikolis, "This is a win-win for the AHL and our teams because connecting with our existing fans, attracting new fans and delivering the best in-arena experience are priorities for all 30 member clubs.”
