Connecting Westin Tampa Harbour Island With Distributed Networks

The Westin Tampa Harbour Island is an upscale hotel located right on the waterfront of Tampa Bay on its own landscaped island. After the location was selected as the host for the 2012 Republican National Convention (RNC), ExteNet installed an indoor distributed network that enabled cellular service in the area and provided a platform for advanced mobile voice, data and video connectivity. ExteNet had an extremely short timetable in which to implement a robust network solution that could serve the thousands of convention visitors, delegates and members of the press. Over a short period of time and with minimal disruption to the daily hotel activities, ExteNet designed, deployed and provisioned a complex multi-node, multi-technology, multi-carrier distributed network.

ExteNet's network at the Westin Tampa Harbour Island supports 3G and 4G LTE services for AT&T Wireless today. The network design ensured multi-carrier and multi-technology support. Very close coordination with building management and integration with the overall venue interior design ensured that the overall aesthetics of the building were maintained.

"ExteNet provides a technically advanced team that understands the nuances of deploying and operating advanced distributed networks like DAS and Small Cells," said Sprint’s Vice President of Network Development and Engineering, "Seamless connectivity and a superior mobile experience for our users remains one of our key goals. We are very pleased to be able to extend our services through the ExteNet network in Tampa."
